Crabs not lasting long....

it is possible that due to not much left over food the CUC will die? All my fish, snails, corals are doing fine but for some reason whenever i buy crabs they don't last that long...they would live for a week or two and then i will see there claws lying around the tank. There is plenty of algae for them to eat too....

All the parameters are fine and i always drip acclimate.

Thanks

Some also feed off algae, so it is odd that yours keep dying. First of all, saying your parameters are 'fine' tells us nothing. Second, there are many ways to 'drip acclimate.' Nobody has replied because you are being to vague.

I use the drip acclimation method on live aquaria.

The parameter are as they are in NSW.

they were when i introduced the crabs but they have steadily increased and steadied at that mark.

Regardless 20 ppm nitrate is not deadly to crabs.

the only thing i can think of is fights between the crabs themselves for real estate...

Ok, first of all, I asked for your water parameters. You stated they were the same as nsw. Now you're saying the nitrate level is at 20ppm. That is not nsw . Second, 20ppm can certainly kill your inverts depending on a few factors. Crabs do not fight each other for 'real estate.' Again, post some concrete figures or else it will be hard to give you suggestions.

upon all the reading i have done 20 ppm is not harmful to inverts...if that was the case then all my snails and other inverts would have been dead.

Secondly crabs do fight to take over each other shell....you should read about it.

Taking over a shell and 'real estate' are two different things. If you don't think 20ppm nitrate can be harmful to inverts then you have nothing to worry about. Sounds like you are doing everything just perfect.
