I want all of your hitchiking crabs. I have a mantis tank and I'm turning it into a mantis/crab tank. I'll pay for shipping, so give me your crabs.
 
Personally I love my porcelin crabs. I dont think you will find many ppl willing to part with their crabs for a buck a piece.
 
I'm not talking about the kind of crabs you pay for at the store. It says in the thread "hitchhiker crabs" Those are the ones people don't want in their tank and want to kill. I appreciate your input, but I think you misread my thread.
 
I'd have sent you my gorilla crabs if I still had them. I put mine in my 10G with my mantis. IME your mantis/crab tank will soon be a mantis only tank again, a well fed mantis tank that is...

watch tha 'tude when your asking for a favor. the good crabs are 'hitchhikers', too, when you dont pay for them. everything that comes on your rock (unless paid for) is considered a 'hitchhiker'. good luck finding these things. i too am interested in gorillas and mantis. i have a 10 gallon id like to put a N. wenny in. i allready have a big mean terror of a hemit and a mithrax that was eating corals. now all i need is a predator to watch tear them apart bwaahahahah!!!......i cant wait!

Thirty? How big was you package? I thought I was swimming in porcelains one night when I saw 12 out at once. I have no idea how many I have total, but probably not as many as 30. You must be able to feel the breeze outside your tank at feeding time when they're all out fanning at once!
 
I got the 50 gallon package, but one of the second shipment rocks was about 25lbs and completely riddled with holes. Well, after a few hours I had LOADS of them everywhere, and they are all still doing good. I have them in all sizes, 1/2" to 2". I'm probably going to trade some into my LFS eventually.
 
pinkish purple, although I also got 2 very very very small white ones on the rock too. They hide in an empty barnicle, thats how small they are.
 
I could never count all the porcelain crabs I got woth my TBS rock. I got the package for my 220 and those little guys are all over the place. I've had mine over a year now and I'm pretty sure they're reproducing in the tank since I've seen some very tiny ones recently and I can't imagine them staying that small for over a year.
I wouldn't want to even try to catch one, they're very fast.
 
Yep lots of those fanners (30? 50? more than I can count) and still several of the red emerald crabs at 10 months. Still deailing with gorillas and mantis though. I think I probably have at least 10-15 gorillas still in there and 1 big mantis that I haven't been able to get yet. Most of my gorillas are small (smaller than a nickel) but I had one huge monster about 2.5 - 3 inches across. He got into a huge fight with my mantis and then I wacked him with a stick. Since then I haven't seen him, however he moved from where he was so I am guessing that he is just healing up somewhere.

I am getting a little tired of loosing all of my hermits and snails though. I started with 300 hermits and 75 snails and I am probably down to a couple dozen of each. I am going to buy one of those "exterminator" crab traps next and try it. Anyone have any luck with those?

I am going to a local frag swap next week, and a lot of people are willing to trade 1 frag for 1 crab. Not a bad deal IMO.

I have not heard too many success stories from people that have used them. I personally have never used one though. They are very smart animals (mantis) and the crabs are just fast......
 
Splach: If you can get some of the gorillas and/or mantis out of there, then send them to me, because as you can tell,
i want some badly. Thanks and good luck with that.
