I was given a 240 that has a crack on the bottom glass that is located on the end.The glass brace that is on the end is not cracked.Just wondering if I put another piece of solid glass on the bottom of the one that is cracked would that work. There is no lip on the bottom, and the tank sit flat on the stand. Just looking for a little input. If this is the wrong forum please remove. Thanks David

I fixed the back pane of a 180 that way it has held water for two and a half years now not the prettiest repair but with rock stacked in front of the repair you cant see it

Thanks rottbo, I think I will put a sheet of 1/2'' glass the same size as the tank,That is what I wanted to hear.I am planning on buying the glass and putting several lines of silicone along the bottom and let that cure for a couple of days then fill and check for leaks and let set for 3 or 4 months to feel safe.I can just picture 200 plus gallons of water on the floor. Is there any pics of your repair. Thanks again

heres how I did it and the only way I would ever do it.........
have piece of glass that covers a much larger area then the crack the whole bottom is awesome but not necesary IMO scrape all old silicone on the inside of the tank with out taking it apart then place glass "band-aid" directly on the glass no silicone between!!!!!!!!!!!! then re-silicone the whole tank with a nice thick bead smooth out with a wet finger and call it good I would let the silicone dry for atleast a week and if leaks dont appear within a week of filling you are good. I have resealed many tanks but that was the only one I mended
