crap building up around rocks!

Hey guys, we've come to notice a problem.

There seems to be grey waste building up around the rocks, in the corners and crevases etc.

We're wondering how you guys actually get flow everywhere throughout the tank?

Our tank is a 65G, 48x16x20.... We have 2 korilia (600GPH) powerheads, there placement is one on each side of the back wall, pointing towards the center front wall, there is also the return pump (Mag5) which shoots across the tank about 4inches under water.

Whats your recommendations???

Try changing the position of the Koralias and add another powerhead. You need enough flow to prevent things settling on the sandbed

Its not that we get flow around the whl tank, its that you need constant flow around the whl tank. In low flow areas uneatin food, waste, and other debris will collect. Also your LR which converts ammonia and nitrate into harmless nitrogen and the SB will help convert nitrate into harmless nitrogen but in low flow will only create nitrate. You need to add another powerhead.
I would get a high end HOB powerhead with a flow control knob and duckbill tip for direction control i use a rio 1450 and love it but many here dont like it.Add in top corner and put koralia on the bottom aimed toward the middle rocks.Look here for good reading.

any recommendations as to how to position them? right now under the "bridge" on the sandbed is where a lot seems to build up, should I place one so it shoots under the bridge and hits the glass and hopefully reflects back to the rock?

I have no clue!!!

You may get some who say the opposite but these a very usefull pump to have. The 1450 maybe a little to big but with the flow control valve its no concern. Then whene you feed some frozen food add a little extra and whatch how it moves around.Any areas that it just drops to the bottom needs attention.
