crap my mag 9.5 leaked!

Last night the impeller got stuck so I open it up to clean it up. When I put it back together I noticed a big puddle on my floor. Traced it down to the mag 9.5.... Do I have to replace the gasket everytime I open it up? It's only 6 months old

try olive oil on the rubber o ring. make sure it's clean
look to see if there are no pinched areas on the o ring.
last resort. seal w/ aquarium silicone.

Just curious why olive oil?

it will keep that o ring from catching on the plastic parts of the pump when you put it back together.

why not corn oil or other types of oil?

because olive oil tastes better.
any cooking oil w/ suffice.
