... so here's some pictures of the new acrylic tank minus bracing / trim ;)

It measures 36" x 20" x 22" external
1" Thick Polycast Acrylic
Rounded / polished corners and lip

sump is 24" x 18" x 16" with a 24" x 7" x 16" refugium built in.

Stand is 36" x 22" x 36"

Who's in line? J/k, I'm seriously going to put water in this one... no really... ok fine start a waiting list, lol.

stand:

stand with sump, notice how well the sump fills the width of the stand (I put in a small cold cathode touch lamp on the inside top of the tank so I can see what I'm working on, it's not a fuge light or anything):
stand_open_sump.jpg

one of my dc8's mounted in the upper right corner on the back lip of the open back stand. my other dc8 is at phong (elite)'s place. Still haven't been able to make it down there yet to pickup:

I actually decided to focus for this shot:

Here's the display tank (still with the paper on it just in case it gets damaged from all the installs):

The back was painted then laminated black, who knows why, but you can see some paint on the paper:

Overall I'm happy with the build. There are a few bubbles at the seams, but the rounded corners totally get rid of them.

My equipment will include:
-Maristar 280watt HQI pendant w/ 2x24watt Actinic T5 supplement
-Light rail (moves light across top of tank, starting at the left to the right in one day)
-Tunze 6025 (2) and Tunze 6045 (2) for flow or... the Hydor Koralia 1200gph (4) when they come out + tunze multicontroller
- Tunze 9010 Skimmer (rated for 265gallons, super quiet, etc)
- Quiet One 4000 return pump
- AquaticSystemsDesign Custom Ca Reactor setup
- Remote Deep Sand Bed
- Reeffanatic Level Controller for ATO
- Neptune Aquacontroller III + 2x DC8's.
- Aquatecnics 1/6hp Trim Inline Chiller
- Ebo Jager 2x150watt heaters

Setup:
- 45lbs of Reeferrocks + a few pounds of established LR to seed
- Bare Bottom or super short sand bed
- schedule 80 bulkheads
- chaeto in fuge suspended by eggcrate rack + fuge light
- reverse photo period for fuge light
- mostly sps, a few zoos, and a few fish

Thanks for looking!!!

Nice dude.. Yeah better pick up your DC8 before I start using it :D .... I havent install mine either :D ...

Did you get the rock yet? I still have two big pieces.

I'm first in line for the tank and the dc8. - lol j/k

It looks great Art. Now get going on the install and get it set up.

I didn't think that the 6025's and 6045's could be controlled by the multicontroller? You could just get a 6100 and add a 6055 for the hard to reach places (I think you're going BB right?). Also with a tank that is only 36" why not go with a single lumenarc and a 400W 20k halide? Just one less thing that can break on you.

2nd in line for the tank. :D.

That's a nice build on the tank. Where did you get it and at what price? Or the ballpark price.

Very nice. I thought this was going to your gf?

we're going to set it up together, but I'm going to keep it at my house since she's going to be in an apartment next year.

I'm getting the multicontroller for the hydor koralias, unless they end up not working for them too, then I"ll have to resort to the SEIO controller instead. The Hydors are claimed to be AC controllable.

I like the sleek look of the maristar and it has built in t5 supplement. Plus I don't want the light to be too strong since it's going to be next to a piano. I had a 250 hqi before and it was really flooding the area way too much already =/ Does the luminarc's keep the light from flooding as much? 400watts is a lot of power too =/

SoCalCreations.com built the tank, stand and sump for me. The price was $1025 for the stand, tank, and sump, then $250 for shipping to the San Leandro SAIA terminal. (SAIA is the freight company I think).

The breakdown was something like $250 for the sump, $275 for the stand, and $500 for the display tank.

They did an excellent job.

wow.. your right, the build looks nice from socalcreations.. are you planning to fit the rest of the equipment under the stand (ca reactor, rdsb, etc.) or is it going to be remote?

the ca reactor setup is a custom setup with a 5lb co2 tank so that'll fit.

The RDSB and the ATO resevoir is another story =( I may build a shelf to put the RDSB above the Ca reactor setup since I have 36" of height to work with, but it might not work. My ATO resevoir is also going to be pretty small. it will be refilled by my typhoon III RODI but if it's small the RODI will be doing a lot of work. I'm afraid to hook the RODI directly up to my sump without a resevoir in the middle of the system... thought that guy could flood too...

I may also just have the RODI / RDSB in the basement drilled through the floor since that's where my chiller's going to be, but the RDSB needs to drain somewhere so it probably has to be above the level of the sump.

pains =( suggestions would be fantastic

You all can say what you want, but Art knows whose first inline

That's not only a super nice looking set-up Art, but the cost is super as well :) Nice!

haha you guys are too much. =)

thanks for the comments! and yes, socal gave me a smashing deal. updates as soon as I get some plumbing done. I'm just waiting for my ca reactor, tunze skimmer, and my return pump to get in.

Well, since everybody is already in line for the tank, sump & etc ...
Can I be in the first line for your gf? :)

Seriously, nice tank Art .... it will be a nice set up.

Good man! That is nice of you saying that. Good luck on the tank set up.

does anybody know how thick of styrafoam I need to put between the tank and the wood?

I think I'll put some under my sump too, to keep vibrations quieter.

Why do you need foam for acrylic tank?

Socalcreations says to do this in their warranty page. I believe it's to even out the weight of the tank throughout the entire top of the stand.

SoCalCreations
SoCal Creations requires the purchaser to place all aquariums on at least 1/2" foam, which shall be supporting the entire bottom of the tank, failure to do so will void this warranty.
