Crase 2008

I just wanted to pass along that we have begun the organization of CRASE 2008.

For those that are unfamiliar with the CRASE, this was a conference that was organized between Aquariums Tropical Fish Supply and COMAS. Its full name is the Conference for Reef Aquarists and Saltwater Enthusiast, but for short, its the CRASE.

Last year was the first CRASE and it was a truly awesome event. Over 300 people attended the one day event. We had 3 speakers, Dr. Ron Shimek, Steve Tyree and myself. This year we are hoping to have 4 speakers and we already have a short list of potential presenters.

Last year we had a vendors area and a hobbyist area for frag sales and this year will be the same. Since we are moving to a larger venue we hope to have more vendors and have more hobbyists.

I really think this year will be truly spectacular.

As I know more I will post in this thread, so bookmark this thread and get ready for CRASE 2008.

For those of you who missed CRASE last year, this is truly one of the "must attend" events of the year. Oh man I can't wait.

Paul, planning on same venu or are we looking towards something larger this year?
 
as it says above....we are moving to a larger venue.

Cweber, yes you are right, it was crowded, but then we didnt expect to have 330 people in attendance.

The new venue (more on that later) will be about 2x the size.

I can't wait to see a list of speakers. This is such a great opportunity to hear from experts in our hobby. I don't really have the means or time to travel to IMAC and such conferences, so to have these speakers come to us is really fortunate .

I now have an autographed copy of <u> Marine Invertebrates</u>!
 
Hey Paul,

I was running around on the net this morning and saw that Clams Direct offers "Speaking Engagements" on thier site with a Power Point and a Q&A following. I know I would be interested in their presentation so I thought that I might let you know in case your looking for speakers for CRASE.

Please, just don't pick OU homecoming weekend this year if possible. I still made it and had a great time, but it cost me dearly having to buy my wife a ticket to the game, as well as pay for their tailgating party to keep the rest of the family happy while was off having a great time at CRASE :-).

Actually have it whenever, I can't wait, and I'll be there...
 
I also know that the GARF people offer speaking engagements as well. I think it would be mostly about their research work...but not sure.

I do not have a moderator's retreat this year, so I will be there and so hopefully will DH (Paul Wanger). Since I missed last year, I am looking forward to this year's.

Start saving stuff for the garage sale!

We had an incredible garage sale last year to raise money for CRASE and will do so again this year. No hurricanes that weekend please!
 
Dear all....

The date of the 2008 CRASE is........

October 25th.

Please mark your calendars for this event, I am sure it will surpass last years CRASE, both is size, scope and enjoyment.
I hope you cann all make it.

I will be posting more in this thread as the venue is decided, the speakers, the topics, the vendors, frag sales, etc....

so be sure to subscribe to thei thread to stay posted.
