Well guys it is getting to be that time again,
Nights draw in, the weather cools and we all remember we have fish tanks!

This will be our 5th CRASE conference and the second we have held at the Cox Convention Center.

We are now taking pre orders for tickets, which remain at only $15 per person.

We have two great speakers already lined up- and I will give more details on those later.
We also have a lot of vendors coming to this years show so there will lots of great bargains to be had. In fact, I think we will have a greater variety and more venmdors than we had last year.

Over the next few days we will begin adding more details, such as the speakers bios and topics as well as more information on the individual vendors you can expect to see.

If you have any questions, p[lease feel free to post in this thread or contact me directly by PM.

Finally, I want to say a huge thanks to Stephanie Kohl for taking on the role of organizer for this years conference.

Regards,

Paul.

YAHOO!!!!!! - It will be my first year to go (since i wasn't in this hobby this time last year), and i'm STOKED!!!!! I already bought my tickets!!!!!!!!

This is definately an event not to miss. Well worth the ticket price. The eye candy is second to none. The speakers have always been spectacular, and the raffle is just down right awesome. Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Thank goodness this won't be during a game day. We will be there and will probably hang out at Bricktown afterwards. Sooooo looking forward to this.

As Promised here are the details on the first of our guest speakers:

Joe Yaiullo.

I have know Joe for several years and he gives an absolutely excellent talk regarding the design, building, maintenance and plans for a 20,000g marine tank that is one of the main features of Atlantis Aquarium in Long Island.

As a taste of some of the contents of his talk, check out this link below:

I had the pleasure of seeing this tank earlier this year and was literally amazed by it. Imagine having tangs spawning in your aquarium!
Joe is an avid fan of vodka dosing- while I was there I snapped this pic of him dosing the 20,000g tank.... while inside it:

That is freeking RAD! I'm so stoked!!!!!!! So because it's my first time, I have a question. When you buy frags from vendors there, will they hold them until you leave the event to go home? Also, what are the hours of the event?

Yep, buy all the frags and other stuff you want! Some of the vendors are happy to keep your purchases, but I strongly suggest bringing a smallish cooler that you can carry around. I'd try and keep all that you can in there. Also, there is underground parking, so you have the option of keeping a larger ice chest in the car and taking items down as needed.

I believe most of the vendors accept credit cards. But cash is always the preferred method of payment.

Just a quick note to let you lknow of some of the raffle prizes we will have...

RoDi from Airwater Ice,
JBJ nano
Chemicals from Seachem
Gift certificates
CHemicals from Caribsea
Foods from Reef Nutrition
Assorted items from Tunze
Lots of corals
Jason Fox signature frags
and lots more besides.

Remember, every purchased ticket comes with 4 raffle tickets.
Each ticket is only $15 and can be purchased from Aquarium Oddballs in Tulsa.

Regards,

Paul.

....and while I am here,
here are the remaining two speakers for CRASE 2011.

Adding to Joe Yaiulio we have:

Fresh from Tanked, we have Justin Credabel
I have know Justin for several years and he will be a great addition to the speakers at CRASE V. For those that do not know him, Justin founded the non-profit Applied Sustainable Aquaculture to conduct research on coral propagation, and educate the public about coral aquaculture and the importance of coral in the wild. At the Coral Research Lab at the Science and Technology Magnet High School of Southeastern Connecticut Justin further refined the techniques of fusing mulitple coral together to create new varieties, and micro-culture techniques. Justin also founded the Coral Bank, a living stocks collection of coral in captivity, during his time at the Science Magnet school.

(The website is www.coralbank.org) Justin is now at Underwater World in Los Angeles where he is developing the aquaculture division, and establishing new strains of captive grown coral, including many species of Goniopora, and new varieties of fused coral. Justin is also in the band Incognito Sofa Love, signed to Tribe Muzik. He is often joined by his friends (been there done that...) and daughters in the creation of music and videos.

Last, but by no means least, we have Tony Vargas

Tony Vargas started his aquatic adventures at the age of seven, with Guppies in a pickle jar. Shortly thereafter, he was breeding a large host of freshwater tropical’s. In the early eighties he took a giant leap forward and assembled his very first salt water aquarium (fish only). Moving on to more challenging waters, in the mid 1980's, he took another leap forward and experimented with marine invertebrates and corals. Moving forward in the late eighties a handful of aquarist including Tony were among the first in United States to successfully keep and maintain Acropora alive in captivity, long term. Tony began to share this experiences and knowledge with others through the many articles he wrote in a column titled "Feature Coral" for FAMA magazine. One of the Acropora articles in FAMA was acknowledge in Carden Wallace text book on Acropora titled "Staghorn Corals of the World".

Today, Tony SCUBA dives around the world taking underwater photos and observing many of these creatures in their natural environment. With his writings he has effectively communicated his experiences and observations. Tony has traveled the States and Europe giving lectures and consultations on corals, reef fish husbandry, and complete system design.

Recently, Tony has completed work on his forthcoming book titled "The Coral Reef Aquarium". This book focuses on the basics of reef keeping, how to properly assemble a coral reef aquarium (five great examples), and the long term care of these critters in a captive environment. Forward by Sanjay Joshi and Preface by J. Charles Delbeek.

Tony's topic : The World’s most Successful Reef Aquariums!

Together with Joe Y' these will be great talks.

Remember, only $15 to get in- lots of vendors, door and raffle prizes.... its a must do day for anyone in the reef hobby.

Paul.
