well ive been in the hobby for about 6 months and this power outage crashed my tank, thankfully marine solutions is holding my live rock and 2 clownfish until i get my tank back up. I have a few questions though. my tank smells bad so i am guessing that everything in the substrate is dead should i rinse it with clean fresh water, and do think i will have to go through another cycling period, anyway any suggestions or answers would be very much appreciated. sorry also i was stupid when i entered this hobby and did not do the research, i know !!!! but i have a 20 gallon tall aquarium and since i have to set this back up again does any one know of a 20 gallon long tank and stand or something a bit bigger if i am going to practically start from scratch i may as well improve a bit thanks again

If your tank is only 6 months old, I wouldn't bother rinsing the sand. Do a good size water change, run Carbon for a week or two, and keep your pumps and protein skimmer running full time.
