Jeeper in my free time
Do any of you guys have one, and if so can i see pics? I just picked one up for a really good price, because it had lost some of it's color, so it's parked up high on my rocks getting bathed in 20k light. I'd like some inspiration to see what i can expect from it.

This is Pam's Crayola Table from my old system.

I vehemently regret swapping it out for the ExoticReefs version in my current system, as I can't get it to color up at all :(

Here are 2 pics of mine. Bare in mind that the tips have lost their color (brick red) and turned green.

I just know that tables require lots of flow becuase they are so tightly formed.

Yeah i know, after i put it in i realligned my powerheads to put more flow over it. My monti's needed the flow anyways, so no big deal.

That was pretty good Ed. :D

that was from the "Rare category" thread for a past frag swap.. I forget who originally posted it, probably Ed again :)

Mine is a piece from a wild colony John had a few months back, it get yellow/green in the center with brown/red edges and purple tips that are forming. Usually has great PE which is what I like the best about it.

Its fully encrusted now and expect it to start taking off anytime.

^ That piece has potential! It is probably a frag from my piece. I got it from John, and was told the color was way better when he first got it. I can definately see a hint of purple in it in that pic. And from the description is sounds like what mine once was.

If you got it from John, and I suspected yours was as well when you showed the picture of yours as well on the other thread. I got mine shorty after he got it in and I believe he decided to sell the rest of it when he had problems keeping the color in his system. It was a great piece when he first got it in, but with most wild pieces they are hit and miss between tank to tank. (which is why LEs are LEs partly, they are the ones that consitently produce good results) Hopefully we will have better luck with it, and perhaps in a while when the piece matures and adapts to tank raised conditions, it will be reliable for everyone.

loves high light.

So far I have had it for a number of months, it has slowly encrusted and colored up.

Time will tell.

What bulbs are you running? I've got it under 20K about 6" from the top of the tank, and since i've switched from 10k's the color has begun to come back. I had it under the 10k's for a few days and it started to lighten up or bleach on the underside, but i've seen no change on the top of the colony.

I have 250wDE, and they are about 6 inches from the water.

I am running 14K Phoenix with 2/96 Actinic.

If you go to my picture thread I posted about 2 weeks ago, you can see this piece right in the middle, about halfway down.

I just put it there and expect because of the more direct light and flow, compared to where it was over by the Green Slimer before.

As far as coloring things up, I may have a different opinion on others. I find it easier to fry the brown out of them and then lower them rather than wait for them to color up. Seems to be a faster way for me.

When in good color, this one appears to have purple tips, which just are developing for me, a yellow to cream interior, with a rust-brick red (whatever you want to call it, but just not brown ehh?)

Though, I have a BB tank and is nutrient poor, so sometimes some pieces don't color/grow for me like they should normally.

Looking at some old pics, it looks like I have had it since October and hasn't done much. Probably too nutrient poor, but I am working on that by feeding more to get faster growth.

Plana's are a wierd piece. I got mine from Ming. It has a light teal base inside the branches with purple tips. The polyps are mostly brown, but there are a few lime green polyps around the base. It changes day to day for me. I will try to get a shot of it this weekend.

Nope that my Plana the insignis is on the other side of the tank
My Plana has purple tips lime green body w/orange poylps the base is light green The insignis has purple tips w/peach poylps and cream Body
The Plana came From RM it is on clints site in the sps section
