These things don't look good. Am I in trouble? Should I remove the rock? They look ominous.

yep.. totally harmless pineapple sponges.. very common in new tanks.. their population seems to come and go..
bookmark/read this site for future reference.. has most of the common creatures,etc.. that tend to pop up in these tanks..
