CriticalEncore's 550ish plywood

I don't think I would ever try this but I think it is cool that you did. The only thing I would is learn how to embed pictures within the part so that is lazy types don't have to click on an attachment.

nice build!! is the tank still running?? updates plz?
It is. Doing very good too. I never really finished the build thread I guess. I'll get some pics up this afternoon and figure out how to embed them for the lazy folks. I'm actually about to build about 300 Sq ft off the back of my house to set up the water changing station and to move all my sump, fuge, frag and other filtration stuff into. I haven't had any temp problems in the summer but when winter came last year and it got really cold I had to close the window with the exhaust fan and had a small mold issue from trapping all the humidity in the room.

Anyways, all the fish are super healthy and very thick. I feed a ridiculous amount of food daily. The vlamingii tang that I kinda built this for is almost 14" now and I'm wondering if I'm going to have to go bigger... here are a couple tapatalk pics but I promise I will figure out how to embed photos and get some posted

Thanks for the update, its great to see this tank is still going strong several years on. I am really considering a plywood tank myself, though I'm hoping to go 168x48x36t but will only have a 96" viewing pane, so that my fish will be able to swim past the window on the ocean.

I too have a Vlamigii and would be building this new tank for him and my other larger fish that are quickly outgrowing my 200 gallon cube, do you think a Vlamigii would benefit from a taller tank or really is it more the length, as I have considered going up to 40" tall as this will be mainly a fish only tank... with some sofities and LPS up on the higher reaches of the rocks.

I think the vlamingii would love as much space as possible but the taller you go the thicker you need the glass to be. I believe anything much taller then mine would need 3/4 glass and at 40" tall possibly 1". A 16' long tank would be an awesome amount of space even at 32ish tall. I may eventually pull all my rock and use several big pieces instead of a bunch of small ones to give more swimming room

My vlamingii seems borderline too big for my 550g but can't find him a bigger home so far. I have stepped up the filtration a lot to keep up with the excessive food I pump in for him.

Posting that I just realized I haven't posted any pics of the 18x20 room I added to my house to hold the fish filtration and extra "stuff"...
