Thanks all!

I'm not sure if it is going into that rock or in the sand under the rock. If it's in the rock, can I just take it out and put it in RO water? What's the best way to get it out of the rock?

x1000 Eunice worm.

be careful removing it. Its a segmented animal so If you break it into, the tail will grow a head and youll have to start all over.

You should go buy another tank, and put him in there and try to raise it. Its really really cool.

Well, fortunately the rock that the worm was living in was out front on its own. Unfortunately, when I picked up the rock, there were two porcelain crabs on the underside. So I had to shake the rock a bit to get the crabs off. I then put the rock in some fresh RO/DI water.

As best I can tell, three pieces of worm came out of the rock. Pretty sure that I got the tail and another is a mid-section. Not sure if the third is its head. I decided to leave the piece of rock in the freshwater over night.

Will that kill the head if it's still in the rock? REALLY hope that the head didn't break off and flee the rock while I was trying to get the porcelain crabs off.

Here are the pieces - or is this several worms?

Figured I would soak the rock in the freshwater for 24 hours. Unless someone thinks it's a bad idea, I'll put it back in the DT tonight.

Thanks!

It should be dead. That rock is dead too;). If you really want to know pour seltzer water on the rock. Wear gloves though. One bite and your finger is numb

Thanks!

Yeah, disappointed that I killed off the rock as well. I couldn't find a good way to get the entire worm out of the rock. The goal was to get it all in one piece. Ended up with pieces anyway....

I ended up scraping all my rock when I had bobbits. They are the worst. I tried fresh water, selzer, smashing rock, everything. They would be gone for a few weeks then small ones would reappear.

One of the main reasons my new tank is all dry rock. No live rock at all. Everything is qted efore it goes in the tank.

Not to be there bearer of bad news here...

But none of those in that pic appear to be the Eunice in your original pics.

Those looks like 3 harmless bristle worms to me.

I'm afraid the bobbit is still in your tank.

Well, that would be a real bummer....although I have some concerns about that.

I'm pretty convinced that those are pieces of a worm - not three worms. It's tough to tell from the pics, but the second pic down one end seems to be a tail. But the other end of that one, both ends of the one on the right and at least one end of the bottom piece seem to be cut off. It looks like someone cut them with a knife. Weird.

I'll keep an eye out. When I feed reef chili in the evening, as the lights are dimming down, it comes right out.

Just spent some more time reading articles on the web. I'm lost. I really don't know if the first worm that I saw was a bobbit. I found some worms that looked extremely similar to what I saw - even had those tentacles/feelers on its head - they were said not be bobbits.

Wish I would have taken out my real camera and taken better photos for you guys.

Guess I should keep an eye out and try not to drive myself nuts.
