crocea & aiptasia

I have a beautiful crocea clam that has been in my tank for a couple of months. He seems to have an aiptasia growing from one of the folds on his shell near his mantle. I would like to kalk paste or joe's juice the aiptasia, but I am very worried about the clam.

I have held off until now, but I am getting worried as the aiptasia is getting larger. Would I be stupid to try to kalk the aiptasia? Can you offer me another alternative (short a pep shrimp) to deal with this pest?

I appreciate the help...I hate these guys!

dont use kalk or joes juice anywhere near a clam. get 2 small containers large enough to dunk the clam in. fill them with tank water. remove the clam from the tank and scrape every bit of the aiptasia off the clam, put the clam in the first container and brush the shell where the aiptasia was, then rinse the clam in the second container and then back into the tank

If you use kalk paste, be very careful. I was kalking Aiptasia once, and some apparently drifted onto my crocea. He started very forcefully expellling water every couple of seconds, up into the hood and onto the lights (he was about 6" below the surface). I moved him down onto the sand, and a few days later he died.

Of course the move may have been a contributing factor, but I tend to blame the kalk irritation.

ok - no kalking the little sucker...maybe a peppermint shrimp is a way to go since this isn't the only aiptasia i have. Thanks for the advice though!

Question - will the aiptasia bother the clam or no?

I just did my maxima a few days ago just as mbbuna described. I removed it to another container with tank water and took a toothbrush to it. Then rinsed in a second container. Put it back in the display and its much happier now.
