Crocea and T5

Hi, I just bought a supercrocea, I told the store to choose the most colorful one for me. Althought I went to see it this morning, it wasnt fully open but almost, and it didnt look that colorful, is it because it is adapting or what?

Also I have 8x 39 t5 bulbs in my 75gal, no single parabolic reflectors. The crocea is over the top, facing my direction, I now its enough light, I also have a galaxea, a hammer wall, and a bubble tip anemone.

But I was thinking if I have enough light to put in on the sand. My tank is 23.5 inches deep.

Its doing really well where I put it, I can see how it is attatching to the rock with some sort of tentacles or something, hower knowing that crocea demand high light, I don't think I will place it on the sand.

However I want to add a Daresa clam and place it over the sand, I know they require moderate light, so I am confident it will thrive. What do you think of this?

By the way, what would be a sign of clam deteriorating due to not enough light?

That's the problem, they really don't show too many signs of deteriorating until it's too late, but there is one sign that light may be too low, especially with Croceas: THeyoften "hyper-extend" their mantles to reach more light. If the mantle really comes out far and reaches up towards the light it means he wants more.

You're probably ok, I'd just personaly put him high like I said above for insurance.

I have 2 crocea and baby maxima on the lower half of my 30" depth tank with 4 x t5s. Kept around 6 months. Looking even better than b4

Do yo guys have single parabolic reflectors for each bulb?

that is like 300% more efficient, like the TEK units. Mine only has one aluminum reflector for the 8 bulbs.

By the way, there is no difference in light intensity if they are 54vs 39, the difference is that 54watt bulbs are larger. My 39watt bulbs are perfect for the size of my tank.

I have 3 croceas and a derasa under 4x54w T5 (Tek hood). I used to have a Nova Extreme, but the croceas weren't looking so good under it, so I upgraded. The derasa was fine under the Nova though.

You are going to have issues because you dont have individual reflectors. I have 4x54 Tek with ind ref's and the two croceas are the first thing i added to the new tank...they do well(2 months now and stunning)

Dont beat me over the head for not elaborating....but a T5 fix without single reflectors is like peanut butter and no jelly and on a 24 " tank i wouldnt put the crocea at the bottom...i would put probably mid way or upper mid way. Also....closer to the middle of the bulbs the light is more intense if that helps your placement!

Start it at the bottom for a few days and see what it does..i bet it extends its mantle upwards a little....if so move it up a couple of inches a day or adjust your photoperiod
