crocea killed by anemone?

hi, I recently bought a tube anemone and a crocea clam for my 80g reef tank. This morning I found that my tube anemone had been wandering the tank that night and was laying across the top of my clam. I came home from running some errands and found that my clam hadn't opened up and his flesh looked some what shriveled but it may just be the way he looks when he is retracted. This clam normally opens up fully and him not opening worries me that the anemone might have harmed or killed him. I will post some pictures in a little while I am waiting on batteries for the camera.

clams are very sensitive creatures. And if the anenome stung or even just smothered it, there is a high chance that it did kill your clam.

Tube anemones carry very potent nemetosis, i would not put one in a reef tank, that is usually why you see them at the LFS in a species only tank. I have my anemone touching my clams mantle all the time and nothing has happened they have been like this for over 4 months.

how's the clam fairing? my LTA stung the heck out of my crocea and it's still recovering after 3 weeks. it's looking a bit better as the days go by. I got the LTA out of the tank last night after removing 3/4 of the rockwork (argh!) and moved the clam to the bottom of the tank. I saw it wiggling around on it's rock before the lights came on this morning and there's more mantle showing today so I think mine will be okay.

keep an eye on yours and give it time. it may recover.

My LFS just started to carry some of these. The guy who runs the store gave me a (do not) look while I was eye-balling them. While they are very, very, pretty- they do not belong in a reef!

my clam died the other day.... smelled somethin fowl and the crabs were eatin him. Took the Tube anemone back to the store for credit and gonna pick up another clam today.
