crocea movement

So i just bought my first crocea and he is in the sand bed and seems to keep moving in a twisting movement? I just put a shell underneath him in hopes that the twisting was to find a solid place to attach. Is it normal of this type of clam to move like that or does he want to be moved somewhere else?

croceas like to be attaced to stuff they have the biggest foot of all clams and like the rocks more or less try putting a flat rock under the sand where he is at he will attach fast. yah its normal for them to move they are looking for the best light.

thanks for the help! he seems to be doing a lot better since i put the shell under him. another, probably stupid question, but what are the signs of a happy clam? how can i tell if he is in a spot he likes and is doing fine?

If they are open and respond to a stimulus. (I.E. putting your hand between the light and the clam)
Apparently the syphon shouldn't be open too ridiculously wide either.
Also, keep not that even when your clam is anchored, provided it does....it is still going to move. In saying this I mean that it will close and the whole shell will move and shake around. It's perfectly fine if it is anchored.

Also, as it grows it will BUST that shell in favor of a larger area so you gotta keep an eye on that. If you try to put it up higher a few months down the road, it might split right through the shell in favor of a larger area. I have seen maybe .000000000005% of Aquarium kept Croceas burrow, the rest usually don't (into rock anways).

Well he has attached to the shell and seems very happy now. I will keep everyone posted if anything changes. I am moving my tank up to college in a week and I will try to find him some room on the rock but since he is attached to the shell I dont know if I want to take him off.
