Crocea not attaching...pic inside!

I know they usually take weeks to attach, and I know crocea's are rock boring clams, I just figured that this title would get more attention as my last thread in here only got one reply.

I've had this crocea since saturday, and was wondering, after acclimation to the lights, how long you should wait to move it to a different spot if he doesn't attach? He's about 2.5-3 inches long.

I know moving them around a lot is stressful, but I also know that if they don't like the spot they're in, and they don't attach, you should move them to a different location with more light, or less flow etc etc...

So how long should you wait for them to attach before coming to the conclusion they don't like their spot, and move them to a new location? A week? Two weeks? Longer? No threads I've read say how long to wait...they just say to wait.

Right now he's in the sandbed with a flat, albeit big, piece of rock beneath him. The last place I had him was directly on the rocks and I'd come home from work to find that he jumped ship and was lying on his side. So how long do you wait before moving them? Thanks.

there's no correct answer to how long it will take. ive had some that take a few days and some that never attach

I'm not asking how long it will take to attach.

I'm asking how long you wait before assuming that it's unhappy with it's location before moving it to a new one.

attachment isn't an indicator of happiness.

whenever you get a new clam place it low in the tank on a small flat rock. after a week or two slowly move it up into the rocks where you want it. if it hasn't attached in that time then it hasn't. if your worried about it "jumping" from the rocks most of that is because people place them percariously and the clam moves and people say "my clam is jumping, why". clams have very rudimentary nervous systems and don't have a brain. they don't like or dislike, they just react.

It is now, and always has been on a completely flat piece of rock. And I've always made sure the rock was level, it's never been dangling on the edge of the rock.

So basically if it's opening good, and not staying closed, and after a few weeks isn't turning brown, it's fair to say it's in a suitable location?
