Crocea placement

I was just wondering if it is ok to place a crocea in the substrate? I was told at the LFS to place it on rock but I would much rather place it in the sand. Can I get some help? Thanks!

Put it on a rock. They have bysal threads there entire life and they need something to attach to. They also will bore and all you'll be able to see is the mantle, because he will bury himself as deep as he can.

Hey, thanks for the response. What if I put it on top of a flat rock buried just below the substrate? Would that work?

I have mine in a large half clam shell..with a little sand on it for stability,until he attaches.
