Crocea question

Have had a Crocea about 8 months now. It is firmly anchored on a large rock. I have a Monti Cap growing great guns and it is beginning to over shadow the clam. Will the clam let go and try to move on its own or will I need to try to pry it out. The way it is anchored in I don't think I can move it without harming it. I can break the Cap back if push comes to shove but would rather not.
Actually it is the Cap in my avatar but about twice as large and the clam is barely visible below.

the clam should let go, once he's not happy with the conditions anymore but it would be much better for the clam to move him before that point.

can you move him with the rock??

don't try to pry the clam off, you can damage the byssal organ which often leads to the death of the clam. if you have no choice but to remove the clam from the rock you can gently lean the clam to the side and cut the byssal thread with a sharp razor, as close to the rock and as far from the clam as you can. if done right, this wont hurt the clam and will allow you to relocate him. this is why we will usually try to get the clam to attach to a small flat rock ( or similar ) when introduced to the tank.

The clam is on the base of a large pillar. I tried to get him to attach to a small rock but he was being difficult. Once he found this spot he attached right away and hasn't moved. I can only bend him in one direct because the rock pillar is on the other side. I may try to cut him off if I think he's not getting enough light. I have a PAR meter and will take some measurements. Thanks.

I just bought a crocea, using a par meter what meas. of light would be the best, I have a 180 with 3 400 mh lights?
