?crosshatch trigger?

i really like this fish and have heard they are pretty hard to find. i had a couple of questions. how rare are they? how much do they go for? how hardy are they? how would they do in a tank with other fish?

also if anyone happens to have one of these i would be very interested if not to expensive

any aditional information would be greatly aprieciated

They generally do fine in a reef or peaceful tank. You want to have a large tank with a lot of swimming room (like a 180g or bigger) as they are open-water fish.

Most stores can get them in if you ask, but won't have them on a regular basis due to the cost.

Overall they're probably the least hardy of the Xanthichthys triggers, and it's not uncommon for them to develop a tumor in their mouth that stops them from being able to eat, with no proven cures (but a few anecdotal ones).

They used to be around $250 per fish, but now I'm seeing them more in the $300-400 range, $700-800 for a mated pair.

I was in a store close to NewYork that had a male an female crosshatch triggers. They said they always get them in. Donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t remember the price, I was there for a bluethroat trigger.

I have a male and female blue throat and they are like puppy dogs. They eat out of my hand and are very peaceful towards all my other fish.

i will be getting a male blue throat next sunday and i am very excited i just have to wait for him to come out of quarentine and make sure he is eating well

I was able to get it from a wholesaler in L.A. I managed a fish store and was able to order it. $180, 8" male. actually had it for 6 months. Became a huge pain, attacked all my other fish.

you also have a emperor how is he? how much was he? how big is he? what phase? how would he do in a 90 gal with a snowflake, radiata lion, and a blue throat trigger?

you can look at a few online fish sites to take a look at available stock and price. it's always nice to get one you can see first from a tank, but I have had decent luck with some of the better online vendors. even if you don't buy from them, you can get an idea of price. just remember if you order fish online, you are going to pay at least $30-50 in addition to the cost of the fish for shipping. it is more economical to fill a box than to just buy a single fish. here are a few e-tailers with decent web sites I do business with:

www.marinecenter.com - good for rare fish, great packing, high quality, costly shipping, fish are generally pricey

www.marinedepotlive.com - great price on blue throat triggers. I got my small pair from them. male did not make it, but female is doing great. they have stood behind their product, I have had good experiences.

www.fishsupply.com - mostly bought odd inverts from them, but have been satisfied.

I have a pair of crosshatch triggers in my 130 reef and they have not been any problem. I even have clams in there that they do not bother.

I have a pair in my 300. I got them from atlantisaquarium.net for i think 450. They are wonderful. I had a bit of aggression with the male but it may have been due to some spawning behavior and was only carried out against super small fish (chromis).
