Can crushed coral contribute to a cyano bacteria outbreak?

contribute? yes, but proper husbandry is much more important CC can trap detritus and nutrients then they can be released if you ever stir any of the CC

My cyano problem began in my fuge where I have about 3" worth of cc. The main tank has 1/2 a thin layer of cc and 1/2 bb. I am not having a problem in the main tank. I've replaced my phosban and added carbon as well as a water change, but it is hanging in there. I went a few days overfeeding to get a new fish "fattened" up, but the problem began before that and I have cut back on the feeding now that he is looking better.
I have been trying to manually remove it whenever I can.

Any suggestions?
