crvz's hole in the wall

Definitely not just one worm... I ended up pulling the sand out of the tank entirely and sifting through it. I found a total of at least 4 rather larger eunicid worms, 2 of which were easily over 14" long. I'm shocked I had never noticed them before now (the sand bed they were coming from only measured 13"x22"). But, all of any consequence are now gone. and given the sifting there's no way anything bigger than 1/2" could have possibly made it through. I ordered a few Halicheores genus wrasses for this tank, hopefully they can manage any future issues while any remainers are small. However, I'm concerned about how much the sand sifting process disturbed the mangroves, hopefully they'll recover quick enough, but with the removal and sifting I'm sure I pulled a HUGE amount of nutrient load out of the sandbed. I don't know how big a deal that will be... time will tell.

I'll have to grab some new pictures sometime. FWIW, the mangroves died, huge nutrient load, been fighting algae for ~6 months, but I've started to see an improvement. The replacement mangroves are starting to have an impact, so hopefully things are turning around.
