Cryptic Refugia in a bucket for DOC control

Rather than taking up real estate inside my tank for a cryptic zone I was thinking of setting one up using the bucket method. For the most part I assume that the risk/cost/benifit would be roughly the same. As far as flow and working it easily into my system, I am not totally sure of the best method yet..............this is where YOU come in . I am also going to be up front with you from the start and say that I HAVE NOT read The Enviromental Gradient (yet). I was hoping to get some possible feedback and further explore the idea before dropping a dime on the project.

I haven't set up a cryptic zone, but from the Environmental Gradient, the cryptic area has to be very low flow. Not necessarily a huge problem for a bucket, just FYI.
