Looking for some advice here. I now have an outbreak of ich or amlyoodinium, probably ich in my tank. due to space restrictions i do not have a qt. I plan on treating with fresh water dips and formalin baths on alternating days for about a week in conjunction with good water changes and vacuuming. any other sugestions. It's a 75gal reef tank. thanks for any suggestions.

None of those will erradicate the ich/velvet. They may help if the fish can build up immunity before it kills them. FW dips don't work on ich, only velvet, and even then it only removes any that have attached for 24 hours or more. You will still have it in the tank/substrate.

I have used ich-attack by Kordon. It is a herbal remedy. Did not have my corals. A lot of people though do not like these kinds of treatments.

largeangel, I have personaly watched cryptocaryon irritans cells explode in fresh water under a microscope. formalin baths are indicated by Edward Noga but may not be as effective against crypto. I also realize that the substrates of my tank will be infected. alas these are the best immediate solutions to my problem.

sharkman878: For FW dips to be affective for ich they have to cause it to dislodge from the fish during the freshwater dip. Ich doesn't do that.
