Crypto Pro

very skeptical about this hypo and copper are the only methods.. wouldnt this be more popular.. and sometime it works and sometimes it does not???

idk

I am skeptical too, but I will try it. It's how things get rolling in this hobby. It's not an overnight bandwagon. If more and more people have success then it likely could become more popular than copper since it's not supposed to be as harsh on the fish. Many fish are very sensitive to copper.

if you dose everyday that's a lot of water to replace in a 50 gallon QT for the next 3 weeks.

One should not need to dose for 3 weeks....the norm is two 5 day regimines with a 25% water change between each for lare tanks. Or if the QT is <=50g then daily 25% water changes with 5-10 days total dosing. When I did my 30g QT, the Ich was gone in 5 days...I stopped at 6 days...Ich never returned.

Regal Angel, how are your Niger and Red tailed triggers?

Think it's ok to do this and Prazi at the same time?

k thanks :)

I have a purple tang that's been in obeservation for a couple weeks. I can't really see anything on it, but it just started flashing and shaking once in a while. Since it's already in an observation tank, I will do a water change, start dosing Prazi, will order my Crypto Pro today and start that as a preventative. The the guy I bought him from had said he's a hardy fish and has lived through a severe crypt outbreak.

for reference for anyone whose curious:

Haven't tested the water for a few weeks so I did it quick before I did my water change.

sg 1.026
Ph 7.8
Nitrate 2
Nitrite 0
Ammonia 0
Alk 10.2

And added my Prazi

fishypharm called to say they are out of Crypto Pro and it'll be about 3 weeks to get any in! Glad I don't need it ASAP!

It makes me nervous that no one else has it, though, so I don't feel entirely comfortable buying it off ebay like that. I haven't researched the seller yet, either. Not enough time yet to do it.

if this stuff works so well, i think we would be able to find more than 1 or 2 ppl outside of RegalAngel from this site to endorse this product.

The Quinine compounds have been recognized by Goemans, Ichinotsubo, Aukes
and Fenner as an excellent method for treating parasites:

http://www.saltcorner.com/Articles/Showarticle.php?articleID=41

"Nevertheless, as with all three maladies mentioned above, a decision must be made where the affected fish can be treated along with the impact the medications will have on system filtration. It now appears these medications can be considered โ€˜outdatedโ€™ and our fish treated quite successfully in either fish-only or reef aquariums with an alternative product, with no harm to filtration bacterium! This product is called โ€˜Chloroquine phosphateโ€™ or Aralenร‚ยฎ. Similar to Quinine hydrochloride, Chloroquine is an antimalarial drug, and also like Quinine, has similar effectiveness in the eradication of protozoan parasites. The product is available from various chemical supply houses and requires no special license or permit for its purchase. However, as with anything new, it takes time to prove-out the procedures associated with the use of the product."

I am about to start treatment on 2 flame wrasses and a flame angel in a 20g QT. Do i really need to change 5g per day or can i just adjust the dosage?

I just follow the directions and have never had problems with it. Changing out 5g a day aint too bad, the treatment is only 10 or so days long. Plus it makes sure ur water quality is prestine. Also make sure to turn down ur lighting if you haven't already in you QT

The stuff doesn't dissolve too well if you just toss it into your tank. I take a small bathroom cup of the tank water and mix it up with something really well before pooring it into the tank. Otherwise it clumps and it won't dissolve at all at the bottom of the tank.

I have a 55gal QT. I emailed fish pharmacy and they said all that is needed is a single treatment. I did that a Month ago but was thinking of doing again.

I have 2 damsels, a dottyback, and coral beauty angel in there now. No signs of ich.I just want to make sure there is no ich.

Just finish a 14 day ice treatment with a Achilles tang. Everything went well. Will defiately keep on hand. Also tried paradise for internal parasites in powder blue tang. Very good product, just mix as directed and spray on food, let it dry and serve.
