crystal clear water

would like to know what some you you do to get your water nice and clear. Ive done water changes, filter sock, sponge filter, and carbon to clear up my water but it still looks like someone backwashed into it:sad2:

I don't know about your setup-- There's more than one way to do it, but what immediately jumps to mind is ozone (out of style) - that can make your tank look like the fish are floating in air.

I notice a clarity difference with ozone. Do you have yellow tint, particulates, or what? If you do get ozone, get a quality unit, the cheapos seem to burn out pretty fast.

Well I have the BRS rox in a bag but dont have to much in there because I heard the stuff works to well. I think I have 3 spoonfuls in the bag

I've found Purigen makes the biggest difference in water "polishing."

If you want crystal clear water: You should at least have some form of physical straining (low micron sock, pads, or foam blocks) that you change/rinse daily or every other day; some form of "absorbing" media like carbon or purigen that physically binds contaminates; & some form of liquid additive with enzyme blends like MicroBacter7 or even Nutrafin Cycle added after every (weekly!) water change.

Use the amount recommended by BRS for your tank (or slightly less) and change it frequently, imo

Of course! I use it after every water change, and some people even dose it throughout the day with a dosing pump.

Seachem Purigen works extremely well. Also a product by API (the name escapes me at the moment) but that works good too. It's also hard to tell as we don't have info on your current setup. Do you have a protein skimmer?

Someone on my local forum recently highly recommended Kent Pro Clear which I am hoping to try in the near future.

crystal clear water

I have a filter sock, filter sponge, and cadlights tia-1150 skimmer tank is 65g sump is eshopps adv 100

You should be good. Run that filter sock 24/7 and Change it every 4-5 days. How many microns is it? A 100micron sock works best to clear water. Check out the API clarifier, I think blue life makes a clarifier as well as kent. If your dosing anything, make sure it's in a high flow area, as that tends to murk things up if the flow is too slow. Small algae blooms can do this as well. (Trust me, you will know if you have a large bloom) run some GFO along with your carbon.

It's really hard to say what's causing it. It could be a dozen different things. Small algae blooms, a sandsifting inhabitant, dosing etc. Good luck.

The ones I got from BRS are 200 microns I believe. I know nothing is kicking up sand because all fish are dead. I haven't dosed in a while because I don't have a decent test kit (on the way).
