Crystal Frogspawn?

I was in a LFS the other day and they had some frog spawn labeled crystal frogspawn. The tentacles literally looked like glass and the ends were bright green. At first I thought it was really bleached, but it looked healthy. I then saw that they had a pretty large colony of it in there display tank so I guess that is how it is supposed to look but I just don't know. Has any ever seen this crystal frogspawn before? They only had one 5 head (heads are quarter size) in the frag tank but they wanted good money for it. If its a legit morph I might drop the cash on it. I wanted to know if anyone else has seen or heard of this or was I checking out a bleached frag and colony? Any input is appreciated

When I first started in the hobby I had one that sounds exactly like that. The tentacles were near transparent minus the tips which were bright green/purple. I don't think it's that rare of a morph though, but uncommon for sure. I believe we paid about $40 for 3-5 heads of it.

mine was originally pink I think the op is talking way lighter than that. And I am not a guy :spin2: I got mine at a frag swap. Pain in my butt though that coral is!:headwallblue:

Did it look like this at all?

did it look like the first pic in this guys thread?
looks like hes having problems with his. :/

Nope much clearer than his the tenticales had zero color to them, they were completly glass clear. They want $100 for the 5 heads wich is pretty steep but I think the morp is really cool, thats just a lot of cash for what they are giving. Maybe I will give it a couple weeks and check back on it and see.

Yes I bought a head of those at a frag swap and after a month the tentacles turned back to the standard brown. They were crystal clear with green tips as the op said. He also had bright yellow polyps that were nuclear greens but grown under leds. They're turning green again after a few months under my AI leds so next swap I wanna know his tank parameters and led setup.

Sounds like you have the same coral I am talking about. They have them midway up in a 125 under VHO's in the LFS display tank , they are also under VHO's in the frag tank. I did not have time to talk to them about how long they have had the coral in ( I dont go to this LFS often). How much did you pay for a head at the frag swap ? I will find out more about it next visit. I would be upset if I dropped $100 for something that turned brown in a couple months lol.

I've seen quite a few of those, it's not bleached or anything just a different morph. Depending on the lighting the tentacles can be transparent or a bit brown, and the tips are always neon green. As long as the body doesn't look bleached then it's good, just make sure to inspect the areas where the flesh meets the body to make sure there's no dying spots before buying it.

I went into my LFS and they have the clear frogspawn too. I did not ask about it because it did cost a lot and they had just some bigger colony's. I dont think they had the name listed as crystal but I will check it out and ask the next time I am in there.

It's definitely not a rarer piece than any others, a decent LFS should be selling it at least at the same price, if not lower since wholesalers don't charge as much for those as the neon green base with pink tips ones.

I didn't take a pic of it right away, you can see in this one it's already starting to turn. I'm guessing it could change back with parameters or different lighting but I don't really know. now it is a dark brown. i paid $10 for a single head.
