I went ahead and enlarged the riser neck of the collector cup to 3" hoping I can run a bigger and better pump..(Gen-x 2400 NW)

The gen-x 2400 is to much for the conventional neck?
I ask because I am looking for a replacement for the stock pump on my 125.

I have done the exact same thing on my 220  BTW, the gen-x 2400 creates much finer bubbles, so IMHO it skim's alot better.

Ive tried the 2400 on my 125 and I couldnt get the flow down...just kept filling he cup....did you put some kind of vavle on the pump to cut back on the flow.?

the 125 with the 2400, I sold over a year ago.. but I do not remember the pump (allways) overfilling the collection cup. I do remember it was very sensitive to slump level changes. I am sorry. I am ordering a gen-x 1000 for a CL 65 . hope it works well.

The larger riser neck works great 100% better then the stock neck.......Im still using the pump that came with the skimmer....just wish I could get the Gen-X 2400 NW to work.....like you said much finer bubbles

Thank you for the help i have been looking to replace my 125's pump (it has been leaking stray voltage) so what are the measurments on the new neck. Thank you

Will

What about a oceanrunner NW will that work?

I think the problem with the gen-x 2400 NW is the body of the skimmer needs to be wider.....I still playing around with it.......so far so good with the stock pump

Premium Aquatics sell a gen-x 1500. I wonder if that would be the best for the 125 and 220... ?? I am buying the 1000 and I will soon try it on the 220 I have.
dwdenny, I do not know about the smaller ORs but a 2700 would be too big IMHO!

i use the 2400 nw with absolutly no problems. and its way better then the stock pump. my css is hang on sump and i used a couple 8" 2x4's to raise it above where it would typically hang on the sump. the lip that hangs on the tank is about 2 inchs above the rim of the tank. i guess this gives it enuf head that it slows the pump down just enuf. i even have my red flow valve closed about a quarter of the way, which keeps the water level about and inch below the bottom level of the cup. i also did some venturi mods to the 2400.
