CSS Collector Cup Mod

i use the 2400 nw with absolutly no problems. and its way better then the stock pump. my css is hang on sump and i used a couple 8" 2x4's to raise it above where it would typically hang on the sump. the lip that hangs on the tank is about 2 inchs above the rim of the tank. i guess this gives it enuf head that it slows the pump down just enuf. i even have my red flow valve closed about a quarter of the way, which keeps the water level about and inch below the bottom level of the cup. i also did some venturi mods to the 2400.

I tried again tonight with the 2400 NW its just to much flow...I had the red knob and my gate valve wide open and just cant get the water level down in the collector cup....bubbles looked real good in the skimmer body....maybe with the new venturi that comes with the pump its too much....looking at your pictures I have about twice as many bubbles in the skimmer body.....well back to the drawing board

Update there was another venturi attachment in the box one where the air hose is in the center of the water flow....put it on and Bamm instant fine bubbrd...I can adjust the water level also

I didnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t like that venturi.....thats the only one that came with mine and i wasnt happy with it at all. the reason its working now is becaseu it blocks the flow - slowing it down, and drawing less air. I asked around on here what some options were, and everyone else agreed that that venturi was no good. And they suggested the modded one I have now. If its working for you thatââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s great, but I think you are unnecessarily saccraficing flow and bubbles.

The pic of mine might be misleading cause I have a ton of bubbles, you cant see any of the plumbing inside the skimmer body. And besides if I had less bubbles that would mean I had more water flow. Did you try raising the skimmer above where it would typically hang? Other then that the only other thing I did was the output mod with the pvc tee.

Does anyone know where the mod thread went for the CSS 65 gate valve? I have looked back through a bunch of pages and can't see to find it.
