cube center overflow?

If I had say a 2x2 cube or even 3x3. Can I have the overflow in the center? Has anyone done this before?

Anyone have some rc links to some? Ive looked a bit, but cant seem to find anything.

I have seen a number of these setup. The overflows are simply square tubes set in the middle of the tank. They have been camouflaged with live rock as well.

Yeah I was thinking larger pvc with a guard on top. I was going to drill rocks to form a pillar around the overflow.

The ones (and I will have to get a picture for you) uses a 4" square plastic stand pipe with slots cut in it. It also has a solid cap that goes over the top (not sure why but suppose snails and fish can not get in now for sure)

Well I got the idea from a local guy who has a frag tank this way.

His is only top viewable, but it has I think a 4 in pvc pipe in the center, with a grate over the top to stop anything. I was thinking something like eggcrate around it a few inches up would top anything, or something of the like. Not sure If I like the whole closed top, that would defeat getting the skim. Wouldnt make a protein skimmer very efficient by not getting the top layer of water out.
