CUC questions

Been reading through Sk8r's sticky's and they are great, I have been in the hobby for years and just recently tore my tank down and put in all new rock and sand. Went with a shallow sand bed this time. Any way I am letting everything cycle and while that is going on I am planning what fish I want this time etc... I was reading the thread on "your sandbed and CUC: how and why." The question I have is is there a recommended amount to start out with? I am looking at Reefcleaners.org and that's where I have always bought my CUC and the size of the packages seem large to start with. I was thinking for a 55g going with like a 25g package to start out with and then later add another 25g or a 30g package. Or is it ok to just grab a 55g package?

I'd be leery of adding CUC to a tank that doesn't have any fish. Unless you plan on throwing pellets in to feed them/ adding a lot of LR I'd wait. But, I'm relatively new too the hobby (Just going off advice from my LFS). Good luck with whatever you decide

I would recommend going with the smaller CUC package. You can always add more later.

I have a 90 gal and went with the 55 no crab and I got A LOT of snails definitly enough for me

I am going to get some algae sheets for them to munch on so they dont starve and they can start getting the sand bed built up and ready for fish
