Cukes in a shallow sand bed?

Do certain cucumbers do alright in a shallow sandbed? My hermits are nassarius predators, and I'm looking some something to keep the sand stirred. I really like the pink/green spiny cukes.

they do fine i have 2 atlantic cucs in my 75. and my sand bed isnt deep they dont burrow just kinda sit on top of the sand and eat it and out comes nice clean sand.Im not to familiar with the one your talking about but if its like mine then it should do fine.

Jay... look into a small conch. Mine does a number on my sandbed, especially compared to my old tiger-tail cucumber. HTH

oh, i like those, too...very very bright colors.

I know ABC Reef had some that fit your description.I believe they are filter feeders though.(i.e. water column)I have one that is mostly pink with a touch of black, that doesn't have the short tentacles on it so I assumed it would be a sandsifter. However, doesnt even go near the sand.It seems to work its way in to rock crevices to feed on settled detritus. No change is size (shrinkage) so I assume it is geting at something.

I think for sandsifting cumcumber worms ,are the black or tigertail type.IME

Ahh... you guys are right. The spiny cukes are filter feeders. I have had a conch for a couple years but he doesnt move a whole lot. I think hes a dud. I actually hadnt seen him for months until he appeared out of nowhere.

I'll look into the 'boring' cucumbers

actually the atlantic cucs or plain ones the cheap ones look like a log of chocolate chip cookie dough. and move around alot. i have one that likes to climb on the glass.the other one i think is just too fat to do it also. but its cool to see it hang from the glass.

I use 2 tiger tail cuc's in my 90 with a shallow bed (one is actually from Cali). They each hang out on different sides of the tank, and pretty much only graze the top of the sand right next to the LR.
