culling zoas; best way?

What's the best way to selectively cull a lot of zoas without removing the rock? I'm finding that the ugly ones grow rampantly and even some of the nicer ones could be cut back. They're growing on some base rocks that would be very difficult to move. I tried pulling a few out with big metal tweezers but was messy, clouded the water and seemed to cause some SPS stress. Would Joe's juice or something like that work?

get a tiny pair of SS scissors and cut them off as close to the base as possible. Glue the head to a piece of rubble, and you have yourself a nice frag. As for the remaining base and mat, its very difficult to remove that without having the rock out of the water and spending some time selectively removing it.

Thanks, I was hoping for a way to get rid of the base and mat because they grow back so quick, but I guess i'll just cut off their heads.
