Hey, at least ours are different. And from the photo of the cultured blue squammie I've seen, the blue is more blue.
I'm tempted to get these cultured ones to compare.

The first wave of release, the clams are never the best clams. Wait a year or two, the later waves of releases, the clams will be much better. Just like when they release the aquaculture blue Maxima

I am curious too. They were pretty common on DD there for a while. Seems that they have disappeared. Anyone know why?

In the same boat as you chaps. I read on another forum that last year's batch were the first newly farmed from MMDC farms in Palau (The Micronisian Mariculture Display Center). This year's crop should be out soon I hope!

I received a small one from DD for father's day last year, and I am happy to report he's a happy clam thus far. He's still pretty small but has shell growth.

My tank does have a lot of light in blue spectrum, but they were both blue at the store and when they were opened up in the bags on the way home.
