Culturing "glass scum" for target feedings?

I was wondering if this would be a halfway viable idea.

My refugium is a 29g and I have room for a 3 or 4 6X6 panes of glass I could put in, near the top, and allow algae and associated microfauna to grow on.

Once a week or so I could just scrape those panes over into a small dish, add in some cyclops or whatever else I'm feeding, and feed my SPS.

Any thoughts? I know this would be useless for nutrient reduction, but perhaps this would be a halfway useful way of culturing and directly feeding microscopic plankton forms....?

I always clean all but one side of my tank. Do my water change and then clean the last pane of glass to help feed the tank.

I would suggest acrylic. Handling glass on a regular basis would be asking for a break here or there. So acrylic wins in my book. I would think you'd have to leave them in for 3/4 weeks before you get any kind of real value from them. Even after all the waiting and work I don't think there's much to gain out of it. There's much better commecrially available foods for sps that your better off with.
