culturing green water with PC bulbs

I've read all over and didn't seem to see anyone using power compacts to grow phyto in 2L bottles. Wondering if there was any particular reason?

I've got a few old refugium lamps I don;t use anymore laying around. Just a desklamp with a 14Watt PC bulb. 6400K I'm game to give it a shot unless I hear of others failures..

I'd rather reuse old stuff than buy a new fixture if the results will be similar. The PC would be more intense, but smaller of course.. Any thoughts?

You'll be fine. People tend to use the cheapest option, but the more expensive option isn't bad Should be fine.

Most used shop lights for their length and for how cheap they are. Phyto will be fine under your light.
