Culturing Phyto

Well your not going to gett all the algae out from settling but the decant can just be added back to the culture.

That is what I have been doing. I let the two liter bottle sit for about three or four days until the phyto settles out. Then I add the left over culture water back to my next culture.

Would like to find a faster way to settle though.

Have any better ideas?

TIA:D

I like the tape the culture tubes to your car tire and go for a ride idea! Other than buying some equipment such as a centrifuge or filter flask with .45 micron membranes I can not think of any other cheap alternatives. Adding vinegar would help grow higher density cultures. With vinegar they would even grow in the dark. But if using vinegar the culture would have to be a tru monoculture, very sterile conditions cos the bacterial populations would explode with that kind of carbon source. I dont recommend anyone do this but you may want to try it on an experimental basis.
