Cupramine and UV

I've used Cupramine for quite some time now. I support this product for eradicating Marine Velvet (and Ich).

The directions by Seachem are clear: Do not use the UV during use of Cupramine.

But talking around, I found some people who use Cupramine, claim to have had success, and have kept their UV on.

Has anyone had success using Cupramine AND at the same time, run their UV? This is assuming the UV was set up to destroy parasites (proper energy level), at the proper flow rate.

Any sharing of experience would be helpful.

Lee, my local fish store does this, but they caution that cupramine should be kept at a lower level( they keep it at 0.15); the risk of higher dosage is that UV will break the cupramine into a toxic state.

baobao,
Thanks. That sounds like a reasonable thing. If the UV breaks the bonding of the copper then the medication turns out to be 'copper in water' and I would assume the 'gentleness' of the medication would be lost.

billsreef,
Thanks for that.

I'm still hoping others can contribute.

Thanks.
