Hello Derek,
Thank you for your email. Cupramine is a medication, so while it will not impact established bacteria colonies, it will tend to restrict the growth of new bacteria colonies. If you are trying to cycle a new tank, you should not use Cupramine. As for whether Bio-Spira will interfere with Cupramine, I cannot say for certain. The description seems to indicate that this is a simple bacteria supplement, but it also notes that it will "detoxify" ammonia and nitrite, which might indicate that it contains a reducing agent of some sort. I would recommend contacting Instant Ocean to see if their product contains a reducing agent. If yes, then it is not safe to use with Cupramine. If no, then it is safe to use with Cupramine. Alternately, you can use Stability, our bacteria supplement for the aquarium environment. As we make this one, I can say with some certainty that it does not contain reducing agents.
Thank you,
Seachem Support
