Cupramine question.

I have a 40 gallon tank Im using as my hospital tank and I've got some fish in there being treated with cupramine for ich. The question is,
I put in less then the dosage required but my salifert test kit is showing a concentration of around .15 ppm? There is nothing in the tank except for a sponge filter, powerhead and some PVC elbows for the fish to hide in.
Is it normal for the concentration to be higher at first or what is the deal? Also .5 ppm or mg/l is the concentration I should shoot for according to the cupramine tests, using the salifert kit do I just kindof eyeball the color inbetween 0 and 10 ppm?

That makes sense the first dose is a half dose and should get you around .25. If you put in less and are reading .15 then that makes sense to me. Just add it slow over the course of a week to make sure the fish adjust and continue to eat while you add copper.

So the final concentration should be .50? to go up from 25 would be 50, not 5 correct? or am I missing something?

fisrt question would be be why didnt you put the recomended amout in the tank in the beginning?

.5 is a higher amount than .25 that's why alot of the test kits start out there then got to .5, it's abit confusing. Especially when most of the teat kits get lighter as the dosage increases.

Not following the instructions is actually better in my opinion adding it slower is better for the fish. So if you do a half of a half dose you are better off.

Yes just make sure you are adding the proper amounts of cupramine to get you to the proper level. Also make sure you test daily hopefully you have a salifert or seachem copper kit. The directions are 1ml per 10.5 gallons. So lets say you have a 30 gallon tank. Your intial dose will be 3ml that will get you to .25. I however like to add it slower so my first dose would be 1.5ml then I would wait a few days test and make sure the fish are still eating then add another 1.5ml. That would get me to the .25 I would wait another few days to make sure the fish are eating and acting normal then add another 1.5ml.........you get the idea....
