Cupramine/TTM QT Question

I'm hoping Snorvich or one you other crypto experts can help me out here. I had a purple tang in a 28g QT on his 3rd week of cupramine at .5 after I observed salt like spots on him.

The tang died very suddenly the other night with no warning or symptoms whatsover. He was eating well and everything.

My question is can I finish out the 4 weeks of CU with the fishless QT? Will that still iradicate ich in all stages even without a fish in the tank?

I will then bring a new purple tang through TTM, placing him in that same tank for prazi/observation for 3 weeks following the TTM?

The point is to "accelerate" the new purple tang's QT so that I can place him in the DT with the other tangs at the same time.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Eric

Your quarantine tank, if copper is held constant for a minimum of four weeks, may/most likely kill off the ich if the life cycle progresses through its entirety. However, for guaranteed elimination, it would have to be 72 days. However, if you are going to do tank transfer, there is no reason to do so.

Thanks snorvich for the prompt response. So If I complete the 4 weeks of copper, I can use that same 28G tank after I complete tank transfer (in buckets) to do the last 3 weeks of observation and treat w/prazipro or would I be better off breaking it down and sanitizing it?

Thanks again,
Eric

I would definitely break it down and sanitize it before reusing.
