Curing silicone?

If I'm going to silicone down my starboard (GE silicone), do I have to cure it in freshwater before adding saltwater?

Can I just let it cure without water for a day or so? I would think this is the case because our tanks are bound by silicone and I doubt the tank manufacturers cure with freshwater.

I just need some reassurance before I fill it with RO/DI.

I never heard of that. You should be able to cure it for 48 hours and it should be fine,

I seek out aquarium-safe silicon (GE does make one) and just let it cure in air until I can't smell it anymore. Never any problems.
