curious about lighting

Currently in my tank i have fluorscent pc 96 watt lighting. im thinking about getting MH but i dont know how many watts i should get.
my tank is 24 inches deep. any input would be appreciated. thanks!

Of course it all depends on what you are keeping, but if it were me I'd go with 250w for that depth.

ok. ya i would like to keep clams, and certain anemones that require high lighting. if i got MH would it affect my soft corals or would they be fine.

They may be okay but you'll definately have to acclimate them to the new light slowly over several weeks and they'll have to move lower in the tank. My xenia moved right back up to the top of the waterline after I switched to MH and I still have shrooms popping up all over the place.
