Current USA Orbit Marine Aquarium LED Light - Settings for Coral Growth

Hello,

Looking for anyone who might be able to shed some light on this. I have had the 48" Current USA Orbit Marine Aquarium LED Light on my 75g tank (mostly zoas & soft corals) for over a month now. Here is the link for the lights on Amazon:

I am hoping that someone on here also has been using the same lights. There are a number of different pre-set timers, which can be seen on the bottom of page 2 on this document: http://current-usa.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Orbit-Marine-Instructions-F1-1.pdf

Now, I know they have recommendations here on the settings, but I know often these aren't optimal. I figured why reinvent the wheel if someone else has already figured it out.

So, what I am wondering is, who has this light? Who has had success seeing coral growth with this light? And on what settings? Just trying to make sure I am setting myself up for success! Thank you

Im in the same boat....kind of looking at a new light. Have had this for almost a year. Let me know if you have have found anything.

I don't think its the light schedule, you just need another strip for any type of growth. I bought 2 48" strips for my 80G tall and have had modest growth in my chalice, frogspawn, leather, gorgs, and other soft corals. If you're going to stick with 1 then max out the intensity for the blues and whites and lengthen the cycle if possible.

Here's how I programmed them for what it's worth. There wasn't a particular science around it. B1 W1 are blues and whites for strip 1. B2 W2 for strip 2. M stands for the moonlights. I have the blues at max intensity and I think the whites are around 70% for a more atinic look.

I've got 2 strips and have had no problem growing out corals, I even started dabbling in acro's and keeping them alive as well

I've had this fixture on my 60g for 10 months. I've grown nothing but softies so far and it's done a decent job. I just went out and bought a fluval reef light to run along side of it. Within a few days things seemed to have a bit more color already. If you do go with this light I definitely recommend getting 2 if you plan on any corals what so ever.

If you test it with a PAR meter you'd find it's kind of a light weight. It's OK for a 12" deep tank, and at 18" for zoas, softies and some lps, at 24" it's kind of whatever you can get to survive.

Even their website shows a PAR of 5 to 20 at 24" deep. My tank has a PAR of 200 at the sand.

I put one on my 90 after my pc lights died. My soft corals perked up with this light I have one LPS that's opened up very nice. I thought I needed more light so I got a reef bar pro 50/50 from 21ledusa. It's a lot brighter than the current. With both lights I feel I have enough light for my needs, softies mushrooms and some LPS

Hi , my name is Ricky. I have a 90gallon reef tank. It's been up and running about 6 months now. I have a 36" current marine marine pro and 24 " current marine pro. I have been trying to get a decent schedule on the lights. I have been using M3 but I'm having an algae problem. I like your schedule you posted for times but I'm a bit confused on how to input it. Any help would be appreciated!
