Current USA Orbit Marine

Unless fish only or low light corals or very shallow tank then pass..
Its really not suitable for most corals in a normal tank situation..

I have been using it for the past year and I must say I am getting growth even from LPS corals. I was just curious if anyone is using other fixtures or leds with them. I was thinking of adding the kessil 150's for some shimmer and color :hmm5:

As mcgyvr said, if your tank is shallow and/or your corals are easy (softies and lps) then you are probably OK. Adding anything can only help. The Current has lots of features but it uses 0.5 watt leds that just don't penetrate the water very well. Even the graph/image at their own website shows that.

If your tank is 18" deep or more and/or you are considering sps corals... get a different light. The section of the above tank that shows PAR levels of 5 to 40 is barely good enough for mushrooms and zoas. SPS corals typically want 200 to 400 PAR (generally speaking) and the Current fixture only provides that at the water surface (not good). If your tank is 18" deep or more and/or you are considering sps corals... get a different light. Or buy enough Kessils to light your tank and consider the Current Orbit as a accessory fixture.

I have an orbit marine on my small 27g cube tank and I agree with what others have said. IME, it is not really suitable for anything requiring moderate/high lighting and with a deeper tank. All I have are some mushrooms and a few green button polyps and they do ok. I haven't used it in combo with any other fixtures, but I imagine if you added something like kessil 150s or anything else higher powered, you probably won't even need the orbit marine at all. (A single 150 has as much power as the 3-4ft orbit marine.)

I have one on my 10 gallon and it's awesome, but the key here is it's a 10 gallon standard and not very deep, his e softies and some lps and all do great on this size tank

I have one on my 20 long. It's only 12" deep and I have SPS. My monti cap is the only thing that seems to grow quickly, although I do have growth from all corals.
