Custom 28g beginnings

Here is the beginning of my new nano tank. This tank will be mostly softies, lps and a couple of clams. Tank was made by Reef Mania and holds approx 28 gallons (inside to inside measurements).

- Tank specs are 24" x 18" x 18", brick style (no top bracing), center overflow and the tank is constructed out of 1/2" acyrlic.
- Lighting is 250w SE XM 10k on IceCap electronic ballast, (2) 24" URI actinic vho's on IceCap 660. Will install lights tonight.
- Skimmer is an ASM Mini.
- Return pump is an Ocean Runner 2500 in a 20L sump.

For flow I am going to use my return from the sump and a Maxi-Jet 1200 with a Hydor head or a Seio 620. If needed I will drill an intake and a couple of return holes for a cloosed loop.

Canopy is my patent DIY ghetto style. I need to do some mods on it tonight to get my vho to fit. I plan to cover the canopy with Waynes Coating or a thin sheet of oak plywood to make it look half way respectable. The stand is made out of steel tubing. I made it 3' long incase I ever get a bigger tank. Front and side panels will be velcroed on for easy access.

i think a darker hood will look better, not white

maybe black? so it matches the borders?

Actually the exterior of the canopy is not painted. Whats painted white is the interior of the canopy. On the second pic that is the access door that is flipped up showing the inside. I have yet to decide what I want to cover the canopy and stand with (oak plywood, waynes coating, etc.).

oh, yea white is good inside i hear, but this is a cool looking tank!

I have the lights in the canopy and thats about it. I will be moving to a new house in june so I have decided not to add any livestock. I will update this thread as soon as I get it setup again.
