Custom Aquarium Glass thickness

I am currently quoting two sizes of custom aquariums.

72x36x30

84x36x30

I am quitting both with starphire on the sides and front. The companies are coming back with 1/2 glass and I am worried that 1/2 may be insufficient. I do not want to add unnecessary weight however I was wondering if 3/4 seems more appropriate or a unnessary luxury. Note the tank will have a euro top and bracing if needed!

What is your thought for each size?

I am not a tank builder, however, as long as the places you are speaking with are reputable, I see no reason not to believe them. FWIW, my 84" long and 31" tall marineland tank uses 12 mm glass (almost 1/2").

Braced 1/2 should be ok. I wanted a rimless and at the size, height really, of mine the builder (coast to coast) insisted on 3/4.
