So I thought I would start a thread of what will most likely be a long process. My boyfriend is a metal sculpturist as well as does work in ceramics. We have been discussing over the last few weeks creating a stand and canopy. Not your run of the mill kind however (can't ever be with an artist, right?). We were shopping for driftwood to fill the aquarium and out he pops with an idea. Creating a stand that looks like a twisted tree trunk driftwood holding an aquarium and a floating canopy that matches where the lights hide inside a twisted piece of "driftwood." All of this he says he wants to sculpt out of metal and then treat it so it will rust and then stay rust free (he's the genious here, simply told him it can't leach anywhere near my aquarium). I just told him, gotta be able to hold 60 gallons of water. I'm actually considering ordering a custom built from glasscages.com so I can maybe get a larger show tank with this unique stand. Maybe a 125 tall.
So here goes. Starting my very first "builder" thread. Looking greatly forward to seeing how it all works out and I'm taking tons of pictures on the way. Soon to follow will be sketches of the this as well as maybe some mechanical plans.
