Custom Colors 125 Build

the window is on the wrong side of our house for that. where my 55 is some light gets to it and yes i do agree it looks cool.
i dont want to redo the floor because i know its worped. i can tell when i walk i go up and down. my nouse is 80+ years old. plus i dont have time to do that much work in a short time.

My house is 84 years old. It might not be as bad as you think, although I've spent a good amount of time repairing floors here though. heh

i know the TIME thing is whats realy killing the hole floor redo. i only have 2 hours aday to make any noise in the house since my wife sleeps for a few hours befor she goes to 3 rd shift and the weekends we make up our lost time togeather.

awesome job so far, Custom. Love that finish on the stand. I may have to call in a favor to my buddy who paints cars when I get my BIG tank some day. :) Cant wait to see this baby filled up. Keep up the good work. hope your wife doesn't start cruising the threads on here and find out about your floors.

im one of the lucky ones and she has no idea what i say on here. she cant read! no no im just kidding, she can read but she doesnt read what i put up here other wise she would flip at all the things i bought for this tank to do it fairly right the first time. i dont want to have to try to redo something that i cant get to easly. so take my time to where its needed

Sometimes woman see alot worse than what is said. When it is up and running and you tell her you cut the floor i really dont beleive she will have a problem. But you will when she tells you that the tank has to stay when you guys sell the house because the floor has a hole in it Ha, Ha, Ha,:jester:

well the tank will come with me cuz i made the hole in the floor to fit a 4x12 heater vent. just so i can make it look good for selling may be far to the future. when and if we buy a new house im puttin a in wall tank viewable on 2 sides(in an outside courner wall) but i can dream for a long time cuz i dont wanna move from my best kept secret in kaukauna, wi. very quiet here being just 1 block off the main road. plus a park right across the street for my kids. the park even has the best sledding hills in the area!

that would be a yes but sump is in the basement where i wont hear anything. so if i do need a chiller ther is where it would be. i will be doing a fresh water run soon to see what the temp diff. is from 6hours of lights on and in the morning when i go to work.

like i said i have my reflectors and they are 18" long from http://www.hehydro.com they are the Budget Gro Wing Reflector . i did a test fit of the bulbs and relized that they are to far off to one side. so what did i do? i did some rework to them to center them and so i can mount the bases. here is how i did them
this is what it looked like befor.
step1-1.jpg
first i derivited the mounting bracket
step2-1.jpg
cut out the 5" extra
step3-1.jpg
reriveited the bracket back on
step4.jpg
flatened the part i cut out
step5.jpg
traced and cut out the part and drilled come holes for rivits and bolts. i used some goop i had and put it on the bolts and set on the part to mark the spots to drill for the mounting bolts. see red arrow
step7.jpg
mounted
step8.jpg
rivited again
step9.jpg

all finished!! i think it will work better than a 12 reflector cuz they cover up more of the top to re reflect the light back into the tank that reflects off the water.
step10.jpg
well i got all the lights hung and hooked up in the canopy on thurs night and i am very happy with the 1500k color of the 175w REEF GROW bulbs that i got with the ballasts i got here off of RC.

3 halides, 2 50/50 compacts (will turn into true atinics in a few)and a 4' led bar for moon light
the water test is under way for 2 days now and so far so good! with no fans the tank got up to 80 just befor the halides went out. this morning it was at about 76-78. i will check the temp for the next few days just to see how many computer fans i need if any. i am running the center halide for 6 hours and the outside 2 for about 5. i think that will be around how long i will run them after everything is set. my water evap for one day was not noticeable, will chek on that after 1 week to see how big of a top off tank i will need.
the Rotators are working great but i thinnk i will still mod them so i can have more returns running better. here is a movie of the Rotators at work. the Rotators are the only thing running in the movie and it is about 1mb in size. this is where u can get them http://www.ocean-currents.com/

Nice job on the tank...and the car! I really like the way those rotators work. I will think about adding those when I upgrade my tank this winter. As for the car, I'll send a picture of that to my brother-in-law. Before he got sick 5 years ago, he did a lot of custom paint work (many of them published in Hot Rod). I'm sure he'll enjoy the photo.

i liked the idea of the rotars too when i saw them so i bought one to try in a sink. few days later i ordered another. it made the sink look like there was a wave machine moving the water.
i got more pics of that car and a few others i did if u want em also?

Sure! Send them to to my email: snobiz2000@hotmail.com

He was more into customizing muscle cars, but I'm sure he'll find some enjoyment from pics of this car.

dont you think the rotators might scare your fish??
no i dont think so since they run all the time. i think that the OM Revolutions would scare fish more do to the fact that they pop down when water is sent trough them at random and lots of people have them now.
